Tuition Workshop - Birds of the English Garden with Karen Coulson

Over the years my work has become very detailed and I enjoy the challenge of trying to draw every feather or strand of hair/fur. I use a variety of pencils but I prefer water soluble ones. I usually work on coloured mount board. I find a coloured ground less intimidating and I like the smoothness of the board.

Spend a whole Luxury day with Artist Karen Coulson, using Derwent Inktense and Watercolour Pencils. Inktense Pencils offer a strong, intense colour combined with a translucent effect. Inktense has a firm, blendable texture and comes in a range of 71 brilliant colours. The colours can be blended together with a slightly wetted paintbrush while applying an overall light wash creates a vivid, ink-like translucency. Derwent Inktense pencils are incredibly versatile and can be used to create a diverse range of art.

Workshops run between 10.30am – 4.30pm. £40 per person per workshop. A 10% discount is offered for any two or more workshops booked at any one time.

All materials for the day’s tuition are included in the cost of the workshop. Paper, pencils, fixing spray, brushes etc.., will all be provided per person. You will be working from a tin of 24 pencils, which will give you the opportunity to experiment with light, tone, and texture of the pencils.

A lunch break of 45 minutes will happen around 1pm. Where you will have the opportunity to take a complimentary visit around the Museum, visit the Derwent Retail shop selling the full range of Derwent Pencils, or visit the Museum Gallery.

Lunch can be purchased additionally from Sketchers Coffee Shop. Complimentary tea, coffee and Sticky Afternoon Treats will be served throughout the day.
