Tuition Workshop - Eagles, Owls and Birds of Prey with Karen Coulson
23rd September
A workshop at the Pencil Museum ran by professional artist, Karen Coulson.
If you are looking to move your pencil artwork to the next level, this is the workshop for you.
During the workshop Karen will take you through how to get the best from your Derwent Studio Pencils. You will learn interesting techniques and applications using the pencils, what surfaces to use and how to use coloured backgrounds to your advantage.
Karen says 'my work has become very detailed and I enjoy the challenge of trying to draw every feather or strand of hair which is why I chose the subject of Eagles, Owls and Birds of Prey for this workshop. I usually work on coloured mount board as I find a coloured background less intimidating and I like the smoothness of the board.
Derwent Studio Pencils are ideal for smooth surfaces which is why they are the chosen materials for this workshop. This colour pencil is easy to grip and is particularly suited to detailed illustration work; such as botanical studies, architectural drawing and graphic design.
Workshops run between 10.30am – 4.30pm and cost £40 per person per workshop. A 10% discount is available if two or more workshops are booked at any one time.
There will be a lunch break of approximately 45 minutes at 1pm giving you a great opportunity to take a complimentary tour around the Museum, visit the Derwent retail shop and browse the full range of Derwent fine art materials. Don’t forget to visit the Museum gallery to view the latest exhibition on show.
Complimentary tea, coffee and sticky afternoon treats will be served throughout the day and lunch can be purchased from the Sketchers Coffee Shop on site.
Please call the Museum on 017687 73626 to book a place or for more information.
