Situated in Keswick, Cumbria, in the heart of the Lake District, the Pencil Museum is a great all weather attraction for the whole family with lots of things to see & do.

Be amazed at the world’s longest colour pencil, marvel at the James Bond style World War II pencil, follow the history of pencil making in words, pictures and lovingly restored machinery, find out exactly how we get a lead into a pencil today and let the kids free to colour & draw in the Kids Art Studio.

There is an ever changing programme of free demonstrations, tuition workshops and family fun days designed to appeal to everyone whether you are a doodler, a sketcher or a dedicated artist and aged 3 or 93. Visit the ‘What’s on’ section for more information

A family ticket is just £11 or pay £16.50 for an annual family season ticket so you can visit the museum as many times as you like throughout the year.

2012 marks the anniversary of The Cumberland Pencil Company, the factory which produces our Derwent Fine Art Pencils today.  We have a special event planned for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th of June. Details will be published in mid February. We have also created a range of commemorative gifts to mark the 180th anniversary, more information on these can be found in the shop section.
